Chetola's Festival of Lights

CHETOLA’S FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS has been a longstanding tradition in Blowing Rock. On Nov. 25 at dusk, that tradition continues when Chetola flicks the switch and more than 50,000 dazzling bulbs illuminate Chetola Lake and its surroundings. The Grounds Department begins preparations for this sparkling winter wonderland in mid-October, a labor of love that takes 275 hours of light-hanging and grounds-decorating. Thousands of people travel through our gates each year just to enjoy this spectacular display. As you drive around Chetola Lake, take time to view the magnificent details of this year’s visuals, including a 30-foot horse drawn sleigh and two 6-foot swans erected in celebration of our swan family that lives in Chetola Lake. The Festival of Lights will remain up through Jan. 29, 2012, which marks the conclusion of Blowing Rock Winterfest (held Jan. 27-29, 2012). We hope you enjoy Chetola’s enchanting holiday lights!
