Blue Ridge Mountain Club’s 6,200 acres are just the beginning of an Unbelievably Great Outdoors waiting to be explored and experienced, and Outbound is your guide to living it to the fullest. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and camping are available most of the year and can be organized at a moment’s notice, while bigger annual events, like our winter Ski ‘N Skate, bring the whole community together for outdoor fun.

Hiking: Our vast hiking network is a great way to connect with the your expansive backyard, as you interconnect with family, neighbors and friends. With more than 20 individual trails – ranging from relaxing to extreme – everyone can find their own path to adventure and discovery.

Streams: During the warm afternoons, introduce your kids to the forgotten concept of a real swimming hole at the one-mile trail that leads to the Blue Hole, a natural waterfall and pool along Laurel Creek with depths of close to 20 feet. With over 60 miles of mountain streams on the property, there are many peaceful places to dip a toe, or cast a fly, in fresh, flowing water.

Fly-fishing: Western Carolina is one of the greatest locations for fly-fishing in the United States. Smallmouth bass and trout are plentiful within this region, and there are scores of rivers and streams on-property and in the area for anglers to navigate on their own or via a guided tour.

Mountain Biking: The geography and area scenery here make the trailheads of Blue Ridge Mountain Club a truly a unique experience. A number of trails varying in length and difficulty are available for bikers of any age to enjoy. Off-property, bike enthusiasts have a wide range of options as well with over 15 noteworthy trails to explore throughout the nearby national, state, or city parks.

Camping Excursions: For a true adventure, BRMC offers luxurious campgrounds with platform tents, outdoor kitchens, and real showers; as well as more rugged campsites with simple fire rings and swept areas to pitch your tent. For either style, BRMC offers complimentary set-up and strike down, and can have all your gear waiting for you upon arrival.
 
Star-Gazing:  Blue Ridge Mountain Club will be dedicated to minimizing light pollution, which will help keep the sky dark and the stars bright. Our observation decks will offer an inviting setting for you to explore the stars and planets.
