For the second year, Steve and I invited our new Blue Ridge Mountain Club (BRMC) and Blowing Rock friends along with the BRMC team to our home. Last year’s gathering was so successful (at least we thought so) that we decided to make this an annual tradition.
Naturally I went ‘overboard’ with the food again, but everyone had fun putting together to-go boxes and food donations were made to the local Hospitality House as well.
About 50 people came. Many more were invited but were not in town at this time. Luckily for us, the earlier rain had stopped and we were all able to enjoy the enchanting mountain setting, which is why we are here. The majestic beauty of this area was our main reason for building at BRMC and our hope was to be able to establish some warm and lasting relationships with others who were already living or building here and eager to discover the same thing we had. In a shorter period than we could have imagined, this feel of community has started to come together and is growing daily.
A ‘toast’ to all our new friends and to a tradition that we hope to continue for many years to come!
