Record numbers turn out for BRMC’s Summer Soulstice Grand Opening of premier amenities
It’s always one of the highlights of the year. The annual Summer Soulstice has become one of the signature events at Blue Ridge Mountain Club (BRMC)—a day that celebrates the spectacular mountain setting and spirit of community that makes BRMC unique. This year’s Summer Soulstice, however, was extra special, as it served as the official Grand Opening for three brand new, state-of-the-art amenities: Ascent Wellness & Fitness, Jasper Club House, and Lookout Grill.
“This is so important to BRMC and all of our owners,” says BRMC General Manager Jim Pitts. “A lot goes into creating premier amenities like these—from the planning to the design, to the logistics, to the construction—it’s a huge undertaking. And it took a while to get it the way we wanted it. But we nailed it and I couldn’t be more proud or grateful to all of the many people who contributed to this extraordinary Grand Opening. This is a great day for BRMC.”
Homeowners “wowed” by amenities
The significance of the day was reflected in the massive turnout, which exceeded 700 people by official count, making it the most well-attended Summer Soulstice event yet.
A festive group of owners, friends, guests, and prospects were on hand to celebrate and make merry over delicious cuisine, incredible live music, and tours of the adjacent Watson Gap Village condominiums: The Mitchell and The Craig. “We’ve been to all of the Summer Soulstice parties and this one is truly special, ”says year-round homeowners Marilyn and Steven Lapidus. “To see these amenities, and the level of quality and craftsmanship and detail that went into these facilities is incredible.
These are truly premier amenities and they take BRMC to a whole other level. We couldn’t be happier.” Similarly, Elaine and Jonathan Topodas, full-time residents from Washington D.C., were very complimentary of the new amenities. “We have lived here for several years now,” says Jonathan, “and we love the high elevation and the natural beauty that BRMC offers. And now, with these premier amenities, it’s just the icing on the cake. There’s nowhere we’d rather be than right here.”
Mountain trails are made for UTVs
In addition to some great bands, food trucks, and delicious cuisine prepared by Dustin Elliott, BRMC’s new Lookout Grill Chef, Kawasaki and Brushy Mountain Powersports gave guided UTV tours on some of BRMC’s forested mountain trails.
“That was a highlight for me,” says new owner Jim Lancaster, from Greensboro. “To be honest, the fact that BRMC is one of the few High Country communities that offer UTV trails was a deciding factor for us. We love to ride on the trails and explore the 6,000+ acres of mountains and ridgelines on UTVs. It’s a great way to get out and see this extraordinary community.”
Kawasaki Representative, Brad Burns, was equally impressed with Blue Ridge Mountain Club. “This is a fantastic community, the type of community that is perfect for our UTV experience,” he says. “You’re talking about thousands of acres of preserved mountain land that is undulating and scenic and offers different trails for exploration and adventure riding. It’s almost like this place was made for our UTVs.”
A great event for an even better cause
Even with the glorious High Country setting, panoramic views, and world-class amenities, the best thing about Summer Soulstice is that it is all for a great cause. Proceeds from the event have gone directly to Boone Hospitality House—a non-profit agency that helps those in crisis, poverty, and homelessness rebuild their lives.
“At BRMC, a true sense of community is core to our values and the experience,” says Pitts. “and that sense of community extends far beyond our gates, into the larger Boone and Blowing Rock communities. They are our neighbors and we are very much committed to the community in the larger sense and doing what we can to contribute to the quality of life for all.”
