2014 Symphony Weekend

Music was in the air—and celebration all around.

It’s always one of the highlights of the summer: the much-anticipated Symphony Weekend held in Blowing Rock, the “Prettiest Small Town in North Carolina.” When nightfall slips over Chetola Lake the senses are heightened with the anticipation of the first musical notes: woodwinds, horns, strings, all in harmonic unison. There’s something altogether captivating about listening to classical music under the attentive watch of ageless mountains and iridescent stars. It’s to be savored.

A spectacular display of sights and sounds

The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce certainly knows how to throw a party. Clear skies, cool summer temperatures, and a riveted gathering of locals, friends, and family made this year’s celebration on the lake as festive as it was magical. The Symphony of the Mountains was in fine form as a near-record crowd soaked up every note. The Chamber’s Events Coordinator, Billie Rogers, felt confident that “this year was definitely a record breaker,” having sold out of all their tickets. Following the musical performance, a fantastic, colorful showering of fireworks provided the perfect culmination to an epic evening in the High Country.

BRMC: Food, Friends, & Fun

“We had a great turnout of friends and family,” said BRMC Sales Executive Jamie Lindsay. “Our members really enjoy community events like Symphony Weekend…which is exactly what it was: a full weekend of activities and fun at Blue Ridge Mountain Club.” Indeed, the Symphony Friday night was just the beginning of a fantastic couple of days of barbecue, trout fishing, swimming at the Blue Hole, ATV trail riding, skeet shooting, hiking, and of course, sipping wine fireside each evening at The Pavilion.

Home is where we gather

Symphony WeekendPerhaps the highlight of the entire weekend was simply observing the outdoor activities enjoyed by everyone, young and old. BRMC is truly about friends and family coming together, regardless of age or interests. There is a true spirit of community that is unique to Blue Ridge Mountain Club and that separates—or rather, elevates us—from other premier communities every bit as much as our high ridgelines or panoramic views. Whether our members live here year-round or come up on weekends or for special occasions, this is home. This is where we gather. This is where we enjoy treasured moments and authentic family experiences which become part of our collective heritage and legacy.
