In the aftermath of America’s biggest real estate crisis, few developers were left standing, and a great many potentially wonderful places were left in the lurch. In 2008, Reynolds Capital Group spearheaded an initiative to locate some of the most outstanding properties orphaned by the crisis, acquire them, and subsequently establish a contemporary vision more in touch with the needs, desires, and opportunities of today’s purchasers. That initiative gave rise to Blue Ridge Mountain Club (BRMC).

Reynolds Capital Group, manager of a private, commingled land investment fund, partnered with another real estate investment company to create Blowing Rock Resort Venture, LLC (BRRV), Blue Ridge Mountain Club’s ownership entity. BRRV’s vision for Blue Ridge Mountain Club is to be the region’s leading destination residential mountain community offering vast natural amenities and amazing long-range views; a cost of ownership that reflects post–recession demands; a debt-free, stable community experience; and values reminiscent of pre-boom pricing; in short, the best value in the High Country.

In order to accomplish the vision for Blue Ridge Mountain Club, Reynolds Development & Management Group (RDMG) was selected as the operating partner and development entity. The RDMG team includes and is bolstered by a diverse cross-section of real estate and community-building experts, namely: Mercer Reynolds, the visionary behind the famed Reynolds Plantation; Dan Dupree, President and CEO of Reynolds Companies and former President and COO of Cousins Properties, Inc; Mike Kelly, President of RDMG and former Executive Vice President of Reynolds Plantation, responsible for planning, development, resort, and community operations; and Jim Pitts, General Manager of Blue Ridge Mountain Club, who has spent his career planning and building destination residential mountain communities.
