The Lancaster’s mountain dream home is just a stone’s throw from Greensboro

Two hours, door to door. That’s how quickly Kim and Tony Lancaster can get from their home in Greensboro to their new High Country home at Blue Ridge Mountain Club (BRMC). Set upon 6,000+ acres of preserved mountain land just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, BRMC is something to behold, entreating owners with its old-growth forests, elevated ridgelines, and seemingly endless panoramic views. It feels like a National Park, and for families like the Lancasters, it’s home. “It sounds like a cliché but we fell in love with Blue Ridge Mountain Club as soon as we saw it,” says Kim. “From the moment we pulled up to the front gate and saw that incredible view, we were hooked. This was exactly what we were looking for.”

The perfect drive from Greensboro

When the Lancasters began looking for a mountain vacation home they had one overriding criteria: it had to be within a two- to three-hour drive from their home in Greensboro. “Tony and I run a business together that is quite time-consuming so it’s difficult for us to make plans in advance to go out of town,” Kim says. “It’s kind of spur of the moment when we get away time, so obviously we needed a second home that is nearby—close enough for us to pickup and go when we have the chance.” Although they knew they needed to find a vacation home close to Greensboro, they didn’t know where to look. “We are mountain people more so than beach people,” says Tony. “So we began looking around Asheville and that area and then Kim suggested we look in the Blowing Rock area. She’d been there before with friends and loved the charm of that mountain town as well as the higher elevation.”

A home in-between Blowing Rock and Boone

Since Blowing Rock is just a mere six miles from Blue Ridge Mountain Club it was just a matter of time before the Lancasters discovered the property. “Tony had actually begun doing research on the area and he pulled up BRMC during a search,” says Kim. “So we contacted them and scheduled a tour. That was all it took.” Tony agrees, adding that “once we pulled up to the gate it was all over. We both loved it. The beauty and vastness were unlike any place we’d seen and the fact it is so close to Blowing Rock, as well as Boone, made it convenient and accessible to dining and shopping and entertainment. Plus, they are one of the few communities up here that offer UTV trails, that was huge. I grew up on a farm and have always loved riding UTVs and ATVs, especially on trails like they have up here.

“BRMC keeps getting better”

There’s a lot to love about BRMC. They have been recognized by ideal-LIVING for “Best Outdoor Living,” offering an endless array of natural wonders to delight and energize one’s soul. Families gather here to celebrate nature and the magic of each season in true camaraderie. Best of all, BRMC just introduced three new world-class amenities, to elevate a living experience that was already something to be coveted. In June BRMC held the Grand Opening for: Ascent Wellness & Fitness, Jasper Club House, and Lookout Grill, all located together at Watson Gap Village, boasting some of the most jaw-dropping views in all the High Country. “These new amenities are incredible. I mean, we made our decision without really factoring in the amenities, which were still under construction. But now that they’re here, we are just blown away—as is everyone else. The level of detail and craftsmanship and hospitality that they offer is top notch. We are thrilled.”
